Of Romance and Routine - Poem

Title: Of Romance and Routine

He wished every moment

To be with her.

Every such moment

Was life for him—

Just the presence,

Nothing more.

Wedding brought them together.

Years pass by...

Life now asks its share,

She wants to keep the fair.

She sees him in the kitchen,

Finds something to do there—

Peel onions, do dishes, boil water.

She sees him folding clothes;

There are many, so she joins.

She sees him in the yard;

She goes to pick some weeds,

And take more pictures.

She sees him and joins.

But

He leaves that to her,

Finds something else.

Of course there is much to do.

She feels, speaks, tries—

In vain.

Eastern Box Turtle

Eastern Box Turtle

What a rare sight to behold
While going about my day,
Eastern Box Turtle on her way!
She 'cos the eyes are brown
He has red eyes, they say!
Go ahead, my friend,
Gladly I stopped my car
Won't she move, not an inch
Waiting still, saying 'your way'!
Waiting lasted a ten minutes
We both not in hurry, I suppose
Slowly walked to her
Oh lovely, she not stressed
For she keeps out her head!
She posed for me grandly
Saying bye I crawled my car
Only to park few yards away
Walking back to check on her
Safe she is on the grass
Here I go, my waiting chores!

Love and Laughter

Spread your wings wide and far
Soaring spirit is all it takes;
Beat the wind and the waves
Brave the limiting boundaries
Live life to the brim and more
Love and Laughter, don't withhold!

The day before Passover

Image:thanks Google

What were You thinking
The day before Passover
Were You satisfied
That You had well proclaimed, Oh...
The Kingdom of God
Or were you upset
The people did not listen
Oh Jesus, Jesus!

I do and still do

Thirteen years have rolled by
Since we held each others hands
And joyously pronounced, "I do"!
Sure, our lives have changed
We've had our ups and downs
But nothing changes the vow "I do"!

Conscience

Image:Thanks Google
Is it right? Is it wrong?
Does it possess a moral sense?
What will he think?
What will she think?
Doesn't matter at all
What the conscience thinks
Is the most appropriate
Ethically, legally and morally!

Here comes Christmas time

Here comes Christmas time
We hear the bells chime
The musical sounds vibrate
Calling us to celebrate
Filling the air with joy and love
Telling the blessings from heaven above

Fragrance of the cake baking
Elegance of the Christmas lighting
Singing of the carols
Sharing of the peace
Here comes Christmas time
We hear the bells chime

I'm a writer

I'm a writer
I write everywhere;
I write in the sky so blue,
And jot in the air too;
I squiggle over the waters,
And shed ink on the clouds;
Sometimes I engross,
Sometimes I scrawl;
Empty or Expressive,
Its just that I contrive;
I'm a writer,
I write everywhere;

Many a times Many a times

Many a times Many a times
I open the notepad
Nothing just comes onto it

Many a times Many a times
I open the pen
Not a word it would write

Many a times Many a times
I open not a notepad
Words bounce rapidly before me

Many a times Many a times
I open not a pen
Words get etched in my mind

Many a times Many a times
These opening and bouncing
These opening and etching match

Those are the times Those are the times
Some fine piece is written
Some fine verse is etched

Is it home? Is it not home?

Is it home?
The place you were born
Where you took your first breath
Or the place you grew up...
Where you feel insecure!!

Is it not home?
The place you are respected
Where you have freedom
The place your opinions are valued...
Where you feel secure!!

What is home?
Is it just a place
Isn't it  linked with feelings?
What is home?
What is not home?

The ones who joined the dots

The one who took the screaming me
From my dad
First day of school

The one who stopped me
From chasing the monkey which took my banana
At the Silver Cascade

The one who helped me hoist the flag
And lead the pledge
Hoisting the leader in me

The one who dared to bet
Trusting me to win a competition
Am happy I stood up to her trust

The one who gave me double-promotion
And accepted my (dad's) refusal too
Making me feel proud

The one who said "Am fine, ever sweet sixteen"
Letting the words echo  in me
Making me feel so

The one who confronted me
For the noise from our classroom
Giving me responsibility

The one who couldn't accept me
Loosing a single mark
Wanting more, Yet encouraging

They are 'The Ones' who shaped me
Joining the scattered dots

I remember each one of them
With equal gratitude and joy

Those 'ones' are my teachers
Everliving in my heart!

Happy Teacher's Day! to my dear teachers and all the teachers!

Appa, its Father's Day!

Each day, each moment of my life
Not only given by you, but
Cared and sculpted by you
What is the pride of a sculpture
Without the perfection of its sculptor?

I would have remained a rock
I would have scattered into pieces
I would have been covered in soil
But for you, My Dear Dad!
I am a fine sculpture!

I love you each day of my life
I am grateful each day of my life
So why this Fathers day?
I shouldn't miss
While the whole world thanks
And celebrates Fathers Day!
So I too scribble something
Each letter soaked with gratitude
And Love too!
Happy Fathers Day!

Impetuous Squirrel

The rampant squirrel munching on an acorn
Made an impetuous leap across the road
Luck was sure on his side for the reason
I was driving leisurely taking in nature's scene

I pressed my foot heavily on the brakes
Waited for a moment trying to ascertain
If the thoughtless creature escaped my wheels
Gleefully relieved was I for it hopped back onto the side

Smile

A smile given to someone
Acknowledges the person
Also brightens your day;

Smile could be given
To everyone you see
But still never lessens;

Smile is such easy wealth
It requires no time
Nor any hardwork;

Smile is great accessory
Wear it everyday
For it will forever stay;

Stand Strong and Tall

Take me to the desert
Take me to the mountains
Take me to the deep valleys
Take me wherever you want
But just do not leave my hand
So I can stand strong and tall;
For I will stumble and fall
Anywhere without you, Lord!

Approaching a fresh new year!

Sometimes I feel like going back
To sweet old memories days!
I wonder if I could hold the clock's hand
And walk anticlockwise a few years!
To relive few evergreen moments
And to change few gray moments!
That would be beautifully wonderful,
Nevertheless it might change green ones too!
So I settle wisely to embrace
The new year along with sweet memories!
Hoping earnestly to shape more greener,
More sweeter, joyous days ahead!

Loved ones

Hard it is to understand the mind!
It feels so lonely when surrounded by people
But feels serene and content while alone!
Oh! It isn't constant indeed, for at times
The same mind longs for company
And feels agitated while alone!
Could I associate the feelings in someway?
Am afraid I don't! Nevertheless I could discern
That the mind invariably yearns for love
At least a slightest tinge of it!
Certainly! How wonderful it is!
To have love ones around!
