Uncut Cake

As my precious little son

Blossoms into a fine young man

Sixteenth Birthday came around

Sopping me with plethora of emotions

Oh my! Am proud and joyful!

Slice of my mind longs

Oh dear! Can I have that baby in arms?

That bubbly toddler running around?

Well, how can I celebrate

The budding fine young man

What shall I prepare? What shall I buy?

He seems not interested

Submerged and stressed with exams

Coming around the corner!

Maybe he thinks am not his type!

I go ahead and order a custom cake

Cookies 'N Cream, his favorite!

C'mon it's his sixteenth birthday!

I bring in the cake

With wishes calligraphed over

Birthday dawns, and the next day

And the next day and another day

The cake is still waiting

For my boy is too busy

Or rather doesn't feel like cutting cake

I gave up, with anger and tears

The uncut cake, I'll never forget

Something else was cut indeed

Its only I who knows

Probably some moms like me!

Mother's Day

I just go around doing the normal tasks around the house. Yes, wait wait, am going to tell that. Normal tasks including yelling at kids and being lazy sometimes. Well, that having been said I'll come to the point of this post. Then one day comes called Mother's day! Whether they do it on their own or do it at school upon being instructed, kids do some cards for mother. And you can't imagine how much those cards touch my heart and make it melt. I feel like am standing on top of the world (don't ask if that is in the North Pole). Those cards make me feel as if am the ONLY best mom in the whole wide world! Well ladies, don't come to hit me..I agree there are many out there.

I have to be behind my eight year old to unpack after school, change dress after coming from outside, wash hands etc etc. But what a surprise! He collects ingredients for a cake with so much precision that I feel like a fool. He preheats the oven, mixes the ingredients in a bowl and bakes a delicious cake. And of course the 'worrying me' puts the pan in the oven, but am sure if I let him do it he will do carefully.
And the next day comes and again am behind him to unpack...

Vacation, Kids and Back to school!

Three things come together, no matter how you feel. Kids, vacation and back to school time. During school, sometimes I get tired with getting up to welcome the sun an hour later, pack lunches, pick ups, drops, homework, food, volunteering activities and all the miscellaneous things you could add to a mom's life. At that time I look forward to vacation. And there comes the vacation, making the spirits high. I sleep late, no routine, no pick ups, drops , - wait wait..not to the school ofcourse. But a new sort of activities seeps in. More library visits, more playground visits, some trips, some playdates, mediating between the kids, arts and crafts, reading, teaching, screaming, yelling, relaxing, enjoying all together. Sometimes insane, sometimes sane; sometimes happy, sometimes sad; I could add more of these 'sometimes'. But do I want the school to reopen? Absolutely not, please don't tell my kids. :-) I think I will miss them and that I will get only lesser time with them. I think of all the things which I had not done with them and get upset. C'mon, why don't I think about the things I did do and be happy for those?? I always think to do more and always that doesn't seem to happen and ...My God! Anyways, the dreadful  back to school time comes. Inside I feel a lots, but outside act happy, talk excitedly about new school year, new friends and what not. I really hate scolding the kids, but that doesn't mean I don't do that. May be I could say kids make me do that. Then once they are asleep I sit and just keep looking at them with a kiss now and then. Well, all part of mom's life I guess. Now, looking forward for a great school year starting coming Monday. All those mentioned in the third sentence of this post are lined up. I don't know why I sign up for almost all the committees, but I hope I will manage all those. Praying that God gives me little more organizing abilities!!! And here it is , for the new school year and to God to lead me and my kids, all through!

Most joyful thing

I was out of my blog for long. But thats for a valid and good reason. I had my second baby, a lovely boy. My first boy is a cute kid of age 4. I had both joyful and frustrating times with my two boys. And let me hurry up, I just have 15 min in my hand...I had put my baby to sleep and waiting for my big boy to come back from his preschool.
I feel the most joyful thing in the world is to lie down next to your baby and talk with him. The way he responds with alls his coos... and he moves his arms and legs to express himself..I feel so much love in those movements. I could understand his each movement and "words". Such a lovely and joyful feeling making my heart sink in a puddle of icy cold chocolate-wow.. :) And I also wonder his love is unconditional, unaware of many things which people expect to love each other..The baby's love is so innocent and so true..I wish I could enjoy each and every fraction of a moment with my baby. And here I hear my big prince's van and I sign off now..see you take care
